La Muna, Aspen
Experience a deep sense of place at La Muna on Red Mountain—a retreat crafted by Oppenheim Architecture and available for bookings.
This mountain house sits alongside a stream on Red Mountain amongst granite boulders, a forest of aspen, fir, and oak, and a pasture of native wildflowers. Experientially, La Muna is a place for family and friends to connect deeply with each other and with the environment. Windows frame views out across the valley to Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Tiehack, and Buttermilk, as well as the Maroon Bells. Applying the wabi-sabi principles of seeing beauty in patina and imperfection, the architecture uses reclaimed timber, local stone, and metals, alongside other sustainability strategies to create a very low-carbon house sensitive to the colors and textures of the landscape.
“Technology has connected us beyond imagination; yet we have become disconnected from each other and the world around us.”
