Star Metals Residences

A project that injects new energy into multifamily living and a distinct identity for a neighborhood in transition.

Star Metals Residences brings a radical new approach to the traditional, developer-led model with an innovative blend of residences, community spaces, and a retail edge. This socially activated living environment has been embraced by the market and achieved the highest rental per square foot in the area.

West Midtown, Atlanta, is transforming from an industrial area into a mixed-use neighborhood. We have drawn from the textures and details of the old railyard and warehouses to create a powerful new identity. A strong sense of place brings greater commercial and cultural benefits than an arbitrary form. In conjunction with Star Metals Offices across the road, we have designed an ecosystem to raise the area’s profile and inspire its ongoing urban regeneration.

Industrial materials and techniques have ignited striking new architectural forms, as well as providing a very economical build, which allowed us to refocus budgets on high-value amenities. Retail spaces along the street edge help create a walkable neighborhood. And a comprehensive series of roof-top facilities designed for lifestyle and well-being have led to strong interest from the target demographic and facilitated rapid leasing.

Through architectural innovation, clarity, and focus on key success factors, we have unlocked the potential of the site—for the greater benefit of our client, building users, and the wider community.
