A modern-day reimagining of traditional Dhermi architecture, this hillside retreat embodies the essence of the rich Albanian and Greek cultural influences of the region.

Our team was commissioned to create a design that captures the spirit of the location, enhancing the brand and business plan for this exclusive sanctuary perched on a dramatic hillside overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

The design process began with an in-depth study of local architectural forms and materials, particularly focusing on the historic hill town of Dhermi. Known for its massive masonry walls and ingenious shading devices, Dhermi inspired a contemporary reinterpretation. Traditional elements such as arches, loggias, courtyards, louvres, and planted verandas were incorporated into the design. These features create intimate spaces reminiscent of a historic village, with courtyards and walkways offering framed views of the sea, shade, and privacy.

The design respects the natural contours of the land, with terraced stone-clad buildings featuring arched openings that honor local Albanian architecture. Pools and native landscaping enhance outdoor cooling, while a series of loggias provide shelter and movement throughout the site. As guests move through the retreat, they encounter contemporary elements, including a subterranean spa and an extensive infinity-edge pool, which reveal the full character of the hotel.

Comprising approximately 103 rooms and suites, the complex is designed as a cascading village of low-rise buildings. This arrangement maintains the authentic scale of the local architectural vernacular, offering a project that respects the past while providing a timeless and luxurious experience for visitors.
