PROJECT TYPE
Architecture

SCOPE
400,000 SF Mixed-use development. Site planning / Architecture / Interior Design

LOCATION
New York City, New York

541-545 West 37th Street explores the hyper-optimization of various related programs onto a small, awkwardly shaped site in the emerging Hudson Yards District of NYC. The 50-story, 400,000 SF project, containing 100 residential units, 330 hotel guest rooms, hotel amenities, 60,000 SF of column free banquet space, multiple food and beverage venues and rooftop entertainment venues is elegant and discrete in scale and presence.  Working within highly restrictive zoning parameters, the project is expressed as two pure rectilinear volumes culminated by large sky portals at the top. The portals serve as public outdoor rooms complete with an infinity edge swimming pool 600 feet in the air that celebrates the north and south axis of the Manhattan skyline.  This same access is appreciated at the ground where a large three story interior mews connects 37th and 38th streets, which on nice days can be opened up with full height sliding glass walls.  Great care has been given to achieve maximum efficiency while defining a compelling presence at the street and in the sky.
